David is a serial software entrepreneur with a passion for building mission-driven companies that set out to solve the world’s most important problems. Under David’s leadership, over just a few years Thrive has grown from providing services to a handful of BC clinics and hospitals to helping over 10 million people through healthcare journeys across the continent.
Prior to Thrive, David founded Pulse Energy, which grew into the world's leading energy intelligence software company for businesses and utilities. Before that, he worked as a geophysicist, a professional windsurfing racer, a Paris-based strategy consultant, and Director of Policy to a Canadian cabinet minister. Outside of Thrive, David loves discovering new things with his wife and two teenage daughters. He also serves as a mentor and angel investor with the Creative Destruction Lab, is a board member at Life Sciences BC, is on the Loran Award selection committee, and has served two terms on the Advisory Board for the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP).
David holds an MBA from École des Ponts Business School in Paris, and a BSc in Geophysics, Physics and Astronomy from UBC and Harvard University. David loves to be on the water or in the mountains (and sometimes both at once). He coaches and competes in flatwater kayak, surf-ski, cross-country skiing, and biathlon.
