VANCOUVER – Providence Health Care in British Columbia has signed a multi-year agreement with Thrive Health to provide technology for all clinical areas within Providence and for all Providence sites, including St. Paul’s Hospital, Mount Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and Holy Family Hospital.
“Our partnership with Thrive Health is an important part of our digital strategy for the years ahead,” said Brian Simmers (pictured), chief financial officer and vice president, people and health informatics at Providence. “The team and the technology platform have already improved the care experience for tens of thousands of patients, and we look forward to having an even broader impact thanks to this agreement.”
Providence Health Care was an early partner of Thrive’s first product, which handled pre-surgical screening for plastic surgery patients. Over time the usage of the Thrive platform expanded to cover a variety of specialty areas, including General Surgery, Colorectal, Interventional and Complex Pain, Radiology, and most recently for the PeriOperative Quality Improvement (POQI) project with Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster.
With this new agreement, Providence has the ability to utilize Thrive’s suite of technology across their entire system, supporting end-to-end patient journeys from intake to follow-up to Patient-Reported Outcome and Experience Metrics.
“The innovators at Providence Health Care have played an important role in the evolution of Thrive’s technology, and we’d like to thank their leading clinicians and administrators for helping the Thrive team to build a powerful and versatile patient-empowerment platform,” said David Helliwell, Thrive Health’s co-founder and executive chair.
“By expanding the engagement organically from a small clinic to the entire patient population they have charted a course that can be modelled across health systems in North America.”
With Thrive, Providence patients will be able to build out a comprehensive and portable health profile to easily share information with care providers and their broader caregiver network, view and manage surgeries through Thrive’s integration with the Providence EHR (run by Cerner) and trigger automated tasks as their care circumstances change.
Thrive will also provide dashboards to deliver relevant, actionable information to both providers and patients to enhance their relationship and ensure all parties remain informed throughout the entire care journey. All of this will be administered through a shared interface for patients and providers for a comprehensive Providence care experience.
“We’re very excited to play a role in the incredible innovation happening at Providence,” says Thrive Health CEO Alec McCauley. “Providence’s widespread adoption of new technologies will pave the way for the future of effective, interoperable, person-centred care across BC and beyond.”
